I know I know. I haven't gotten around to posting my New York blogger and photos. C'mon I've been busy! Quit bustin my chops! For now...enjoy...
So I'm still kinda broke from our last trip, freelance has been eating up my nights and weekends. I've been a bad husband and didn't plan out anything fantastic for Valentine's Day. She had to work that day and there's no telling when she would've gotten home so there was no point in making reservations.
Also, Rachel was flying solo and no point in making her dine alone. Come on over! Things worked out great although I was late as hell cooking everything. We all teamed up to make dinner:
Steamed Maine Lobster with lemon butter
Seared scallops
Grilled asparagus and creamed artichoke hearts
Baby spinach salad with hearts of palm, red onion and mandarin slices tossed in a champagne vinaigrette
I felt sick afterwards. In a good way of course. For gifts I kept El's simple. She likes Jack Johnson and he had just cut an album for the Curious George movie sooo...

She kicked my ass this year, though. For my poor aching back (sitting in front of a computer all day) she bought all kinds of nice accoutrements to aid in my comfort. But the real gift came to me at work earlier in the day. She hired a professional masseuse to come to my office for a half hour massage. Was I embarrassed? Yes. Did my cowerks snicker? Yes. Was I game? Yes. Would I do it again? You betcha. I felt like a million bucks after that...

Not much of a Super Bowl Kinda Guy...
For the past few weekends I've been wanting to get back to doing stufff outdoors again. I miss doing recreational stuff outside. Freelance work and the typical domestic duties have kept us at home or in the office.
We've been doing our fair share of Spring Cleaning and trimming off the excess (literally) around the house. It's been a couple of weeks in the works. We usually bang out chores in a day or two, but our schedules have been so hectic. We have too much on our plate, although we are slowly chopping away at it.
I really want to get my fill of deep sea fishing, golf, bike trails and whatever else we can before summer rolls in full steam. This weekend we opted out of watching the Super Bowl to make another dent in our laundry list and take Sunday off to hit Wekiwa Springs.
With weather being a little cooler and everyone having their Super Bowl parties we packed up some gear and headed out to do some kayaking. We pretty much had the river to ourselves. You know how they say that somethig like white water rafting, or what have you, can tell you something about your marriage (and yourself)? Or maybe you haven't. It takes team work and cooperation to get that boat lined up just right and going where you want.
Well, let's just say when you have two people with two different ways of doing things you'll probably end up stuck on a sunken log or in the weeds. Eventually we worked it out and got it together.
Gonna have to do this again sometime...

Hello Gabriel!
So it happened, although maybe a week earlier than expected. Cherilyn and Kevin had Gabriel as of Thursday February 2nd. So Len had ice cream for dessert one night and got some cramping - she is lactose intolerant after all. Maybe Gabriel is too. Soon after, he wanted OUT. By noon the next afternoon, with no complications, Gabriel jumped ship.
Once home Cherilyn spent the night up holding Gabriel. Kind of a nice Welcome Home if you ask me. But I think he just didn't want to be put down.
Congrats to Kevin and Len! We'll see you on the 18th to say hello...
